About us

The Glimmer Man is a small family business in operation since 1989.

We however can't take credit for the name.

The previous owner called it The Glimmer Man after a late night discussion about pub names while sitting under a old overhead gas heater. A throwback to the days of the gas inspectors around the time of "The Emergency" in the 1940s.

Previously called, Paddy Carr's, Lyster's, and Gaynor's.

There is history of a pub on this site since 1814, however the current pub was designed by J. J. O’Callaghan and built in the 1880s before the big lounge out the back was added on in 1992, using all reclaimed brick.

We have added thousands of pictures, antiques, books and bits of memorabilia.

The building is steeped in history. If only the walls could tell stories.

Come have a pint and see what you can find.
